No-exam life insurance
What it takes to qualify, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Several carriers have introduced accelerated underwriting: if you meet their age and coverage limits, they'll make an underwriting decision based on your application, medical records, driving history and other information, bypassing the in-person exam. Some decisions arrive within hours. Every quote on this site shows whether the carrier requires a physical exam, might ask for one, or will issue without one.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no verification. The carrier will check your answers, and if a policy is issued based on wrong information, the carrier has two years to challenge it. If the carrier's records turn up questions, they can still request an exam or blood work later; at that point you get to decide whether to go ahead.
Who tends to qualify
Generally people under approximately 60 asking for coverage within the carrier's no-exam limits, with no significant health problems and no tobacco in the past year or longer. Recent blood work from a doctor visit can sometimes stand in for a medical exam.
If an exam is needed, expect a 20 to 30 minute appointment with a medical technician at your home or workplace in the Fountain Valley area, at no cost. For people in good health, exam findings sometimes result in a better rate, so it's not necessarily a negative.
